We’re Going to Disney World

We’re Going to Disney World

A Step by Step Guide

So you decided you want to go to Disney World and visit the happiest place on earth? That’s wonderful! You are going to love it and I say that with 99% accuracy, as most people do. I’m not sure who the other one percent might be, but I think they must be crazy.

You will find here a Disney World guide written by a real person bringing you real experiences. That person is me, Mimi. I am a mother of three and grandmother of one… So far!

The first step to going to Disney World is deciding that it is the place you want to go for your vacation. That’s a pretty simple step. Do you really want to go or not? If you decide you do, you will be one of 58 million people this year who do.

Pretty cool, huh?

Once the decision is made, your planning must begin. You’ll need to know the size of your party, the ages of your party at the time you will be in the parks and the general idea of what people want to do.

Disney World in Florida offers four major theme parks. There’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Hollywood Studios. These four parks are logistically spread out throughout 43 square miles in Orlando.

Also, there are two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhon Lagoon, four golf courses, two mini golf courses, Disney Springs shopping and dining district, and a Boardwalk. Tons of things to do in these places, plus activities at the 20 huge resort areas, each with their own unique theme and spin.

To get yourself through the planning, follow our guide below.

Step #1: Pick your dates.

Taking the tip from above and keeping everyone in your party in mind, choose your dates. Remember:

  • The school calendar
  • How many vacation days you have(you don’t want to travel late and have to be in work the next day)
  • Your budget(while Disney is never cheap, there are value dates)
  • The seasons(if you can’t take hot weather, the summer is out; if your airport gets snowed in and you need to fly, don’t go in January)

Step #2: Where do you want to stay.

There are so many choices, but the first main choice is do you want to stay in the Disney World park bubble, or outside of it? OR… kind of in, but kind of out by staying at one of the friends of Disney, like the Dolphin or the Swan hotels.

First and foremost, there are many reasons to do this trip either of the ways. Disney resorts can be higher in price then some resorts in the surrounding area, but you will have to pay for a car and parking at the parks as Disney resort guests enjoy free transportation around the park areas and to the resorts.
